Everything You Want to Know

Honest answers to the questions we hear most. If something isn't covered here, our contact page is one click away.

How does personalization work?

You choose a story and give us three things: your child's name, their age, and 3 photos. We turn their photos into their own character and generate the illustrations around them — so your child is genuinely the hero of the story, in their name, not a stock character dropped into a template. No two children's books come out the same. A specialist reviews it for quality, then you see a preview and approve before anything is finalized or printed.

Can I add other family members?

Yes. Many stories include optional family characters alongside your child — a sibling, a parent, or a grandparent. You choose who to include when you personalise, and the form shows you how many times each character appears in that specific story, so you know exactly what to expect. (Not every story has room for a full supporting cast.)

How is this different from other personalized books?

Most personalized books work by inserting a name into a fixed template — the story is identical for every child. Ours start as an original story, and your child becomes its hero — illustrated as themselves to match their photo, in their name. Before the preview reaches you, a human reviewer checks the quality and coherence. The result is a book that's unmistakably theirs.

How do you make sure each story is high quality?

Technology helps us create each story — quickly, fluently, in two languages — but a real person reads every story before it reaches you. We check language quality, coherence, age-appropriateness, and how well the details fit your child. Creation is assisted by technology; quality is guided by people.

How do your stories support emotional growth?

Many of our stories are written around something a child is working through — a first day at school, a new sibling, a fear at bedtime, the courage to try something hard. The story names the feeling gently, places your child as the hero who moves through it, and gives parents a shared language for the moment. We are not a therapy product — but a beautiful story a child wants to hear again is one of the kindest ways to support them.

What kinds of stories do you offer?

Some stories are imaginative and magical. Others are warmer and more realistic — about family, school, friendship, or growing up. What every story shares is that your child is genuinely the hero, and the story is built around a value, an emotion, or a moment that matters in their world.

Are these just entertainment stories?

Not always. Some stories are imaginative and magical — simply a joy to share. Others are designed to support something real: helping a child navigate a new situation, work through a fear, build a skill, or prepare for a change. The story does the work gently, through narrative rather than instruction.

Will my child's face really look like them?

We work to match the child's photo in the illustrations — same skin tone, hair, general features. It won't be photographic realism, but it will look like your child, not a generic placeholder. The preview you receive before approval lets you see exactly how they appear in the story.

What languages are available?

Stories are available in four editions: Simplified Arabic (Fusha), Egyptian Arabic, English, and English + Egyptian Arabic. You choose the language when you place your order.

What age is this for?

Most stories are designed for children aged 2–10. Younger children enjoy them through the illustrations and a parent reading aloud — the pictures and rhythm carry the experience. Older children absorb more of the emotional and narrative depth on their own. Each story listing notes its recommended range when the story suits a specific span especially well.

How long does it take?

Your draft preview is usually ready within a few working days. Once you approve: your digital PDF arrives 2–4 business days after approval; printed books are made and shipped after approval, with delivery time depending on your country (shown at checkout). We don't rush the review — a real person checks every story, and that care is worth the short wait.

What formats do I get?

Digital orders deliver a high-resolution PDF — read it on screen or print at home. Print orders deliver a professionally printed book — a hardcover internationally, and a premium softcover in Egypt. Bundle orders deliver both: the digital file arrives first so you can start enjoying it while the print copy is on its way.

What's inside the book?

Every Zanoura story is a 32-page book, 20×20cm, professionally printed — a hardcover internationally, and a premium softcover in Egypt. Inside: 14 full cinematic story spreads where your child appears as the illustrated hero, plus a dedication and acknowledgment page, a story-specific activity, a parent message page, and a keepsake memory page. The front cover, spine, and back cover are all personalised as one wraparound design.

Do you ship internationally?

Digital stories are delivered worldwide — by email or WhatsApp, wherever you are. Printed books ship to the destinations we currently support, with shipping calculated and shown at checkout based on where you are. For orders delivered within Egypt, the delivery fee is paid to the courier on delivery, not at checkout.

What if I don't like the draft?

Your satisfaction is part of the process. You receive 2 included rounds of revisions — tell us what to change and we will revise it. If after those two rounds you're still not satisfied and ask for further changes, we'll refund your order minus the €5 production fee rather than keep revising — so you're never stuck. And if you decide not to continue: cancel before your first draft — or after your first draft, before you ask for any changes — and you receive a full refund; the first draft is on us. Once you've asked us to revise (your second draft onward), the €5 flat production fee applies if you then cancel. We want you to be genuinely happy with the story before anything is printed.

What is your refund policy?

Full refund if you cancel before your first draft, or after your first draft before requesting any revision — the first draft is on us. Once you've asked us to revise (your second draft onward), a €5 flat production fee is deducted and the remainder refunded if you then cancel. For orders paid in Egyptian Pounds, the production fee is 200 EGP instead of €5. Print orders are non-refundable once you approve and the story enters production. Digital orders are non-refundable once the final files are delivered.

Is my child's photo safe?

Your child's photo is used only to create your story — we never sell it, never use it for advertising, and never use it to train our own AI models. Creating the illustrations involves AI providers who process the image solely to generate your story (see our Privacy Policy for full detail). You give consent as the parent or guardian when you order and can withdraw it any time; we delete the photo from our systems within 60 days — usually sooner — and will delete it earlier on request.
