Who We Are
Zanoura Kids is a personalized children's storybook service. We create illustrated storybooks where your child is the hero — illustrated from the photo and details you provide, in their name. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the specific protections we apply to your child's photo and personal information.
References to "we," "us," and "our" in this Policy refer to the Zanoura Kids service operated by Zanoura. If you have questions about this Policy, contact us at privacy@zanourakids.com.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide when placing an order or contacting us:
- Order information: your name, email address, shipping address (for print orders), and payment details, processed securely by our payment provider.
- Personalization data: your child's first name, age, and gender; the story language you choose; and any optional family characters you add (such as a sibling, parent, or grandparent).
- Your child's photo: uploaded to generate the illustrated story. See the dedicated section below for full details.
- Contact messages: if you write to us, we retain the content of your message and your contact details to reply and resolve your query.
- Usage data: standard website analytics (pages visited, device type, approximate location). Collected in aggregate and not linked to individual identities.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create your personalized story and deliver it to you
- Communicate with you about your order status and previews
- Process payments and handle refunds where applicable
- Respond to your support requests
- Improve our service based on aggregate, non-identifiable usage patterns
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising profiling or targeted advertising.
Your Child's Photo
We treat your child's photo with the greatest care, and you stay in control of it. Here is exactly how it is handled:
- Your consent & our purpose: You provide your child's photo so we can create their illustrations, and we use it only for that. We process it on the basis of the consent you give, as the child's parent or guardian, when you place your order — and you can withdraw that consent at any time (see below).
- You confirm you're the parent or guardian: By uploading a photo, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian and that you consent, on the child's behalf, to its use to create the story.
- What we never do: We never sell your child's photo, never use it for advertising or profiling, and never use it to train our own AI models.
- How the illustrations are made: Creating the illustrations uses AI image-generation technology, carried out by a specialist provider we work with (described under "Third-Party Service Providers"). Your child's image is shared with them only to generate your story; they process it under their own terms and applicable data-protection law, and we prefer providers that commit not to use inputs to train their models.
- Where your child's photo goes: Only two parties ever handle the photo — our secure storage, and our AI image-generation provider that creates the illustrations. It is never uploaded to our store platform, our email provider, our print partner, or couriers, and never shared with anyone else.
- Access: Within our team, access is limited to the people directly creating your story. It is never available to other customers or to our marketing.
- Retention (our systems): We delete your child's photo from our own systems within 60 days of your order being complete — usually much sooner.
- Deletion & withdrawing consent: Email us at privacy@zanourakids.com with your order reference at any time. We will delete the photo from our systems within 5 business days and ask our providers to delete their copies where their terms allow.
- Storage & security: Photos are stored on secured servers with access controls — never on public infrastructure.
Third-Party Service Providers
To run our store and create your child's story, we rely on a small number of trusted providers — each under a data-protection agreement — and we share only what each one needs for the purpose shown:
- E-commerce & payments platform: to process your orders and payments securely.
- Secure cloud hosting & storage: to store your child's photo, your order data, and the draft preview images, under access controls.
- AI image-generation provider (EU-based): to create your child's illustrated likeness. Your child's image is processed only to produce these illustrations.
- Email delivery provider: to send your order, preview/approval, and support emails.
- Print & delivery partners (printed orders only): we share your name and shipping address so your book can be produced and delivered. No other personal data is shared.
We deliberately keep this list of providers small, and each one is bound by a data-protection agreement and used only for the purpose above. If you would like to know the specific providers that process your data, just contact us and we will tell you. We never share your data with social media platforms, advertising networks, or data brokers.
Data Retention
We retain your order data (name, email, order details) for as long as is necessary to fulfil your order and comply with legal obligations, typically up to 7 years for financial records. Your child's photo is deleted within 60 days of order completion (often sooner). Contact messages are retained for up to 12 months after resolution.
International Transfers
Zanoura Kids operates internationally, and your data — including your child's photo — may be processed on servers located outside your country of residence, including outside the EU/EEA. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or a provider's recognised compliance framework, in line with applicable data-protection law (including the GDPR). You may contact us for more information about these safeguards.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing activities
- Request your child's photo be deleted at any time during or after production

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically. Continued use of our service after a change to this Policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
